Marin Cilic injury sees Andy Murray into Queen’s semis

Murray, who is suffering from ankle problems sustained at the French Open, will have an extra day’s rest before the semi-final.

The 24-year-old looked to be feeling the ankle injury during a hard-fought three-set win over Xavier Malisse on Wednesday, but looked far more comfortable in Thursday’s win over Janko Tipsarevic that booked his place in the last eight.

“I would have rather played and got another match on the grass,” he said. “[But] it wasn’t to be. I just have to take this day as a rest day, which in some ways is probably a good thing.”

As for his semi-final with Roddick, Murray said: “Obviously it’s a tough match. He plays very well on grass. It’s his best surface, I think.

“I have to play well to win against him. He obviously serves very well, so it will be important for me to serve well myself and not give him too many opportunities.”

Murray is targeting his second title at Queen’s having won in 2009.
